The first year of the programme offers a strong, chemistry-oriented foundation in Food Science and Natural Products. Bringing together core subjects such as Analytical Chemistry, Food Chemistry, and Natural Products Chemistry, it reflects the interdisciplinary orientation of the department and its focus on the interface between food systems and natural bioactive compounds

In the second year, students build upon the theoretical knowledge acquired in the first year through training in the practical and technical aspects of these disciplines. During their laboratory work, they become familiar with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and gain hands-on experience with advanced analytical instruments. Through literature review, data analysis, and dissertation writing, they strengthen their analytical skills, sharpen their critical thinking, and refine their scientific writing.

Research Areas

  • Recovery of bioactive compounds from agri-food by-products through conventional and green methods

  • Separation, screening, and characterization of bioactive compounds from plant sources

  • Chemical fingerprinting and analytical profiling for food authentication and safety

  • Incorporation of bioactive compounds into food matrices for functional applications
