OliveId is a semi-automatic tool, that has been developed by the Department of Horticultural Genetics and Biotechnology of CIHEAM-MAICh, for the morphological analysis of olive fruits, leaves and endocarps. OliveId provides measurements regarding the shape and the size, which quantify features of fruit, leaf and endocarp. In particular, quantitative and qualitative characters of fruits, leaves and endocarps, such as size, shape, symmetry, contour roughness and presence of additional structures (nipple, petiole, etc.) are determined.
Moreover, this methodology can be easily used to describe the morphologies of other crop species, such as tomato, pear, potato, grapevine, etc.
Our methodology is developed in Matlab and our team is finalising the packaging of binaries and source codes for the morphological analysis of fruits, leaves and endocarps. The Matlab source codes will be available to all the users for academic purposes.
Also, we are working towards the creation of pre-compiled binaries for users that do not have Matlab installed in their workstations.
